I wanted to see how many of you are using or thinking of using a wedding coordinator? For everything or day of? I am thinking of using one, but I am not really sure if I need it.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I didnt think I need one either until about 2 months before the wedding. I hired Laura from LA Productions and it was the BEST decison I made..She made the wedding go as smooth as it did and I would of paid her any amount of money for hte peace of mind she gave me..I can't say enough good things about her or about my decision to hire a DOC..

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I was thinking about using one but decided not to...there are many weddings that are done without one. If I was going to get one it would only be for the day of just to make everything go smoothly. I decided though I have faith in my vendors except for maybe one and it will go how it goes no matter what. I am just going to sit back & relax b/c in the end nobody will know but me & FH if somethign is wrong.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
IMO you dont need a wedding coordinator..you can do the research and planning on your own and these boards are so resourceful. I do recommend getting a day of coordinator though, I found that to be extremely helpful on my wedding day. Took alot of stress off me and my family and helped things run smoother.
Theres a post below on brides' recommendations for DOCs.

my thoughts exactly... I hired Michelle from Defining Moments 3 months before the wedding because I was just soo tired of doing everything myself and stressed about every little detail... thanks to her, we could enjoy our day to the fullest

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I hired Laura from LA Productions as well. She is a sweetheart and I have heard nothing but good things about her.
I need that peace of mind. Plus - I do not want to delegate responsibilities to family and friends.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I think its important to have one. You'll be too busy to worry about the little things.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I am using one as well. She's so incredibly nice and she's given me so many great tips & ideas. Plus I really want to enjoy my day without having to worry about all the little details. She's not a vendor on liw her husband is so if you want her # I can forum mail it to you if you want.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
I'm using Posh Wedding Productions as a Day of Coordinator
ETA: spelling
Of course you don't NEED one, but I thought it was a great thing to have. You can always place certain responsibilites on family members and your bridal party, but I didn't want to do that. If the limo is late - I want the DOC to deal with it - not me. I just felt that I would want to have no worries for the whole day and allow everyone to enjoy themselves.

Re: Wedding Coordinator?
You do not NEED it, but I will bet you don't NEED more than half of the wedding related items you are paying for.
I have one because I wanted one. They will definitely help you, that is a given. It is up to you to decide if that help is worth the fee. For me, I chose to have one because:
both FH and I are indecisive, the worst negotiators ever, I work 1 full time and 1 part job and I am in school, FH works full time and freelances, I don't know what I am doing, I am having a tented reception in a backyard - so there is lot of coordinating to be done with rentals, caterer, etc. I do not want to have to worry about any of those things, and its fun.
