what do you guys think of having a reception on a yacht? has anyone ever been on one?

Not personally, but i know there is a yacht that goes out of Flushing Meadow Park and goes around NYC, I was going to check into it, but FH nixed it on me

My biggest concern would be the weather. While rain is a bummer for someone even in a traditional reception hall, it would be incredibly unpleasant for a yacht wedding.

I looked into something like that but it didn't work out. I think its a great idea though.

Yes, our wedding and reception will both be held on a yacht. It's a slight risk due to the possibility of rough water. That's the only real risk I think we are taking.
The yacht is so large, I don't think most people would even notice if it rained. We are planning a sit-down meal with dancing to follow. The outside areas are protected from inclement weather, so you would still be able to get 'outside' in the rain. I don't see it as that big of a deal.
I haven't heard one negative thing from any potential guests we have talked to about it either. Everyone seems to be very excited and thinks it is a very cool idea.
