I'm taking lessons at Chrystal Dance Studio in E. Islip. They have a special for 5 1/2hr private lessons and 5 hour group lessons for $150. You also get a free 1/2hr at the beginning to see if you want the package or not.

I totally recommend John from Ballroom Dance LI. He found me on this website asking for lessons. He does one on one lessons that's convenient for you. He's pretty flexible and soooo nice and patient. Fun too! FH and I had the best time with him and he taught us a pretty easy routine. Plus... we learned the foxtrot, swing, disco, etc. He'll even give you a half our free lesson if you just want to see. No contracts to sign or money down unless you want to stick with him.

What about Arthur Murray? They have several locations. Unfortunately i don't know how much they are since they didn't say in their response to me.

I was told that Ballroom dance is $75/lesson. If you pay for 4 at a time the rate to $70. per lesson

Thanks soo much, if anyone thinks of any other places, please let me know!!!

I was so worried when I decided we should take lessons. I thought it was going to be 10 times more expensive, but i'm seeing that it's reasonable at some of the smaller places.

Do you think that 6 months before the wedding is too soon or is it not soon enough!!!! (I love FH but he's REALLY REALLY bad).

Also, how often do some of you go?

Re: wedding dance class

I too like you am getting married in September and my FH does not know how to dance at all. We went to Dance Obsession in Farmingdale this past weekend for our free trial lesson.

FH hated even the thought of taking lessons and nonetheless, the teacher could tell he was not happy being there but she has a great personality and a sense of humor and was able to make it fun for us. Therefore, we signed up and meanwhile FH is not glowing with happiness in general about taking lessons, he is a little more humored about it thank goodness to Rosalie and her awesome personality.

I looked into Arthur Murray and another vendor on here and they were more money. If you would like Dance Obsession's info, please FM me.

ETA: I believe we will be going once a week.

DH & I took lessons through the Town of Huntingtom Dept of Parks & Recreation. I know that starting in July there is a class on Thursday nights for Fox Trot & Waltz. Class is an hour long and lasts for 8 weeks. YOu do not have to be a resident
