Hey girls just a question...Im trying to think of a date where we would be able to work with the RH on the price. I really want a sat night wedding because i dont want any of the guests to have to wrry about work that way they will be able to enjoy themselves. How does everyone feel about a weeding the weekend after thanksgiving. thanksgiving is on a thursday and then the sat after would be the wedding. I also thought it would be nice because family from out of town can come in a few days earlier and spend thankgiving together. otherwise we would have to go with a sunday twilight wedding...what does everyone think???

Re: wedding date
I think that is a nice idea! You might want to run it by some family members on both sides to get a feel for what they think. Could you do a Sat. afternoon? I am doing that because it is much cheaper than Sat. night. Just an idea!

Re: wedding date
I would run it past some family members, only b/c some may have a set holiday plant for Thanksgiving. Otherwise I think its fine.

Re: wedding date
I just went to a wedding in Nov (Sat after T-Giving). It was a blast. She was able to spend more time with OOT guests. She did her RD Wed night. If you send out STD with plenty of time, I dont think you'll have a problem.

Re: wedding date
I think Jan - March are much cheaper than say November at most halls. Is that an option?

Re: wedding date
I think its great, my sister actually got married the night before Thanksgiving and it was great cause nobody had to work the next day and everyone that came from out of town was able to stay for the long weekend. I think if you like the idea then go for it remember its your wedding!!!

I think that is a great idea. Another good time to look is January, the prices are really low but you have to worry about snow

Thanksgiving weekend...out-of-town guests will have to drive home (possibly) in traffic with all the other people who came to Long Island for Thanksgiving.
We were invited to a wedding on the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year...in Pennsylvania. My DH was working that day and I didn't want to drive back alone and sit in traffic on the NJ Turnpike.
Just my opinion

Me? I wouldn't run it past ANYBODY. That is where too many people's opinions, could stress you out. If the price is right, do it. If they love you and want to be there, they will be there, believe me. I went to a wedding last year the night after Thanksgiving. It's your wedding and your money....do what your gut tells you to do!

Re: wedding date
Can't hurt to ask the halls for prices for that weekend. We thought about that weekend but decided against it b/c of the traveling for our guests (98% of whom were from OOT). They would have been stuck in the nightmare that is traveling that Sunday.
I can't recommend enough early December. As Deanna said above, we had gorgeous weather on our day, and the extra bonus is that most places will have decorated for the holidays by that point (whereas the weekend after Thanksgiving they have not yet started), so that cuts down on what you have to spend on decorations at the hall.
But again, this is your wedding, so go with what you want!
