Wedding date

Wedding date

So, we booked our wedding for May 15, 2010 for a few different reasons: I love May weather (not this year!!) and it is my birthday month...When i told my mother the date we chose, she got a little PO'd because she said that is my aunt & uncles's anniversary... I had no idea... is it THAT big of a deal?

I don't think its a big deal. I could never plan my wedding around my family's bdays and anniversary's...I have too many people in my family. As it is, we're getting married on my aunt's birthday.

I would call your Aunt your self and explain why you like this time of year and ask her if she is offended. If her and her hubby have a long healthy marriage youcould also mention that and they might be flattered.

Dont worry, but you should making announcement with a cake for them and your moms birthday and maybe give your aunt and uncle some wine or champaign!

I think they will be flattered you chose the same day! (even though it was un-intentional).

My wedding date is the same day my FBIL got married. They were so excited we chose the same day as them! I was the one who had an issue with it

I'm getting married on my aunt's anniversary, but I asked her permission first-only because she is my favorite aunt

So I would call your aunt and let her know about it

Re: Wedding date

Our wedding date is also FH's aunt & uncle's anniversary. He is also very very close with them. I think we're going to do something special and ask them to come up and share a dance wth FH & I to celebrate their anniversary and the beginning of ours. Can you acknowledge during the reception that it's also their anniversary so they feel they're being celebrate too?

Good for you though for having it the same month as ur bday. I could never do it because i like my birthday to be it's own celebratory month lol.

I think we'll play their wedding song at some point during the reception, have the DJ give them a shout out and we'll all dance to it...

We are getting married on my FILs wedding date (by complete accident) and my FMIL was beyond touched, since FH's father passed when he was 10. She said he was telling us to pick that date

Re: Wedding date

I really don't think that's a big deal at all. There's only so many days in a year.
