Ok, so after getting screwed out of my date (and potentially my deposit ) at my original hall, I found a hall I love. YAY
I also found another wedding date. It's perfect because it's our 12th dating anniversary (yes, you read that right), but it's a Sunday and it's Father's Day.
What do you think? I have some reservations about a Sunday in general. WIll people take off the next day or will they leave early? My mom wants to throw a brunch the next day (Monday).
Also, do you think Father's Day will be bad? My family suggested seating families together instead of seating more by age group. What do you think?

Re: Wedding date?
our wedding is the day before Mother's Day. I had asked both my mom and FMIL if they minded and they said it doesn't matter to them at all.
I am actually doing something special at the reception to honor the mothers and I am goin to have the priest make and announcement at the mass about wishing the mothers a Happy mother's Day from the bride and groom.
As far as you're fear of people leaving early or takng the day off, i think it would depend on what time you are having it. Is it an afternoon wedding or an evening wedding. Honestly, either way, I'm pretty sure most people would take off the next day - i know I would.

Re: Wedding date?
It's evening.
I kind of want to stay away from honoring the dads thing. Although it's really nice, my dad left us and I think it would just make me very sad.

Re: Wedding date?
i don't think anything's wrong with that ... families can just spend the afternoon with one another.
i would still seat people with their age groups, i think ... it's just more fun that way for the guests lol
congrats on finding a new hall and a new date
ps: i'm a sunday bride as well but we're doing an afternoon wedding so people don't need to take the following day off from work. sunday nights can be a bit annoying for guests who work, and they might end up leaving early. i'd try to schedule the wedding earlier, if possible.

Re: Wedding date?
Because fo the mass schedule and the fact that it's a baptism day, the earliest ceremony I could get was 4:30. I think it'll still be good. I'm going send out STDs early.
Any other feedback on the seating?

Re: Wedding date?
I don't think the day is a problem - I also think doing it on a Sunday evenin is fine. It's becoming more common w/ wedding costs being insane and the economy not being so great.
The people you love the most will be there for it and stick it out!
As for seating - I would sit people based on age. For immediate family I am sitting them together but for everyone else it will either go by age or relation - co-workers, college friends, high school friends - that sorta stuff.

Re: Wedding date?
I wouldn't change your seating plans for this one reason. Either way, people will mingle throughout the reception and gravitate towards certain people.

Re: Wedding date?
I think sitting them by age would be best. Although people will mingle throughout the night while they are seated at the table you want them having fun

Re: Wedding date?
I was hesitant on a Sunday also, but we LOVED the hall and everyone who matters said not to worry about it. The people that are most important will be there until the end.
I think if it works for you, you should do it!

Re: Wedding date?
I am in a BP for a wedding on Father's Day. It's in the afternoon so I can always go see dad afterwards. I don't think it is a huge deal.
