I know that the week of my wedding and also the day of there are people who are celebrating birthdays. My thing is I dont want Happy Birthday being sung throughout my wedding or at all. We are having a band for the wedding. Has anyone thought of telling the band not to take any requests or start singing happy birthday?

Wedding day and birthdays
My wedding falls on one of my BM's b-days. I am going to have the band sing Happy Birthday to her right after we cut the cake. I will also acknowledge anyone else who has a b-day then.

Wedding day and birthdays
I had my band mention the birthdays during dessert - and they just said 'the bride and groom want to wish a very happy birthday to...' and everyone basically just raised a glass to them. I think though, if the birthday people were close family members, I'd maybe sing happy b-day -- it makes them feel good. Everyone wants a little attention on their birthday, and at a wedding, all the attention is on the b&g -- what fun is that for the birthday people?
At my cousin's wedding they sang happy b-day to me & my mom and even gave each of us a whole b-day cake with candles. I was very touched.

I had the same situation and my aunt came up to me and asked if I told the DJ it was my cousin's (her son) b'day. This was one of the MAIN reasons why I DIDN'T want that date (Oct. 6 -- really wanted Oct. 13) because it was so and so's b'day. And not for nothing, but a couple of years back my cousin got married on my b'day and didn't say anything at all (after she said she was going to make a big deal over it, which I'm glad she didn't) about it being my b'day. What I did was tell the DJ to do was just say a general 'The Bride & Groom wish everyone celebrating a b'day today or this week a very Happy B'day'. BUT, we did sing HB to my father (who ended up being in the bathroom and missed the whole thing LOL :0) and his grandmother!

My cousin`s birthday is the day of our wedding, and we plan on having a cake and happy birthday played for her, but she`s 3 and I know she`ll love it. If there are other children`s birthdays, or a Great Aunt or Grandmother I would do the same, but I don`t think I would do it unless it was a child or an older family member you wanted to recognize. Just my opinion of course :)

Wedding day and anniversaries
I have like FIVE or SIX important anniversaries the day/week of my wedding, two of my closest friends 1st anniversary, my cousing 15 year anniversary the day before, my aunt and uncles 51st anniversary the day after, one of my BM's 5th anniversary the week after...I am doing the anniversary thing with the bouquet and either dedicating it to my grandparents who can't be there (sick) and having a dance in their honor, or to the 51 year couple, before the dance i'm going to announce all the other anniversarys. There are also two BD's, I haven't decided if I will mention those. But, then I worry that I will miss a bd or anniv that I don't know about and wind up making that person feel bad!

Wedding day and birthdays
Almost everyone in my family and my Husbands family had a birthday in April. It was also one of my BM birthday on our wedding day. What we did to avoid any “Happy Birthday” Mitch and I made a speech thanking everyone for coming and wished everyone who had a birthday in the month of April a very Happy. Everyone said that was very sweet that we acknowledges their birthdy as that is a tasteful was of doing it with having a cake or singing
