After Hurricane Sandy hit I had a hard time getting back into the Wedding Planning. I couldn't believe what my hometown had just been through, the town I'll be married in. I felt bad having this big party when so many people didn't even have a bed to sleep in. For a while I have thought about making a donation to a charity in honor of our wedding day or our grandparents or something... now being that everyone at the wedding was affected by this storm in some way I couldn't think of a better cause to donate to. This has now become even more real sitting here watching the 121212Concert with FH. I just brought it up to him and he said he was all for it. Now my question is how do I go about it and what are your suggestions for letting guests know this is being done. Also, what organization do you suggest I donate to?

Wedding Day Charity Donation (Sandy Relief)
2012er crashing. I did a donation and the charity that I was donating to gave me printed cards saying that we made a donation in the guests honor. I placed a card at each seat.

Love that idea too....I would make a donation to the charity that 121212 used...I think it is The Peter Pan Foundation? 100% of proceeds go to the families.

I went to a wedding where they donated to a charity instead of a favor...they attached the info card about the donation to chocolate covered pretzels!
