Wedding Day Time Frame

Wedding Day Time Frame

What are people doing or arranging for their guests to do in between the church and reception. My FH family lives in Yonkers and our church is in Babylon. He doesnt want to do it there because then his family is sitting around for 2 hours with nothing to do and then they wont come. I can change start time for ceremony but I need time for pictures. My reception starts at 630 and the hall wont change that.. What do I do????

His solution? > Do it at his church in Yonkers

you can arrange for guests to go somewhere in between for drinks. Post office cafe right there in babylon has a small room that has parties. I'm not sure if you could do like cheese platters and some drinks and the cost but i think that would be a nice solution so you can avoid that!!!!

My ceremony is at 1PM and my cocktail hour starts at 6:30PM. My family welcomed back my family to our home for drinks and some food, and his family did the same. Our home is a half hour away from the venue, and 5 minutes away from the church.

The way I see 'the gap' issue is that people will:
-Go to the church, then go home to change for the reception (Which is what I LOVE to do)
-Not attend the church, only come to the reception

I honestly think you shouldn't worry about it and in the end, do what's best for you. This is your wedding day - our photographer is SO grateful we have the huge gap and can't wait to take millions of pictures.

I agree don't stress it. I know for me, I usually dress casually at the church and then go home, shower, and get ready for the reception in between. Or, sometimes I have skipped the ceremony (bad, I know) if the church was really out if the way. Most of the time we get a hotel room, even if we live close, because we don't like to worry about driving home tipsy, so we go back to the hotel to pre game a little. Don't worry about it, your guests will figure it out :)

This exactly. I can't tell you how many weddings we had to fend for ourselves in between church and reception. We would just go home to get ready in between or if it was really out of the way, grab a light lunch to kill time in between.

This!! The gap is one factor that still stresses me and this answer sums it all up, I am NOT gonna stress it!

I agree with the other ladies above. You cant worry about it! I have been to a wedding upstate where the hotel was 40mins away from the church and that was at 11am. Then we had to drive 40mins back towards the hotel and the reception wasn't until 5pm another 30mins away in the other direction. Don't stress, people will find something to do!

Our ceremony will be at 2 and cocktail hour is at 6pm. The reception hall allows people to come at 530 and will have some light drinks for them before cocktail hour. We need time to take pictures because we are stopping at the beach. I figure people can fend for themselves for a while. I am not stressing

Thank ladies for your ideas. My mom would host it at our house but she lives an hour in the opposite direction. I'll look into that post cafe or if my venue will allow a few to come early. He's mostly concerned with his grandparents.. I guess people can figure things out
