Ok its getting down to the nitty gritty part of the wedding.
I am trying to think of details for the wedding.
what are you doing to make your wedding unique?
like for example
aisle runner? favors? crazy 1 man band for the wedding...
need some ideas

Re: Wedding Details - what are you doing?
What we're doing is just sticking to our 'theme'. Our colors are chocolate brown and sky blue so we're incorporating our colors as much as possible and we're also incorporating our monogram on all the paper items and things like the cake and my bouquet handle.
We're having a monogrammed aisle runner (same monogram we're using on our paper items).
We're using blue flowers with either brown fiddleheads or brown bear grass to keep our color theme going.
Hmmm, what else? Can't remember right now.

As far as uniqueness with decorations (pics in DIY album)...
I made two custom wood signs..one for the driveway of the RH...and one as guests enter the lawn where the tent will be.
I made a custom card box...all that coordinate with the invites & STDs.
The aisle runner on the lawn will be a traditiona white one, with a bamboo runner down the center..kind of like the grass beach matts...so it will have a white trim with the bamboo center (no pics of this yet)
i am decorating the aisle with 8 capiz shell windchimes on hooks.
My cake topper will be a custom made stainless steel sculpture of two seahorses by a local artist friend of mine.
My favors will be a set of 4 blank notecards with envelopes that have my photography of Hamptons beaches on it...since we live there & the wedding is there.
Cp's will be sand & shells in a vase, then hydrangea tied like bouquets in the middle with lunaria..no pics of these yet either. You can see my first ideas in DIY CP album.
That's about it...plus we are not doing much traditional stuff at the reception...we are actually greeting our guests as they arrive, then we are having the ceremnony. We are also having food & drinks available as soon as you arrive...i hate starving waiting for the ceremony to be over! haha

Re: Wedding Details - what are you doing?
heh, another beach theme wedding here (with a victorian twist), since our town is a classical victorian harbor town.
Victorian = antique steel buckets holding the centerpieces, wicker baskets, toile, rosemary in favors
flowers have a victorian garden composition, and will be in antique buckets
favors (DIY) will be rosemary sea salt, which not only combines the victorian and the beach, but also adds in our love of cooking!
I made the ring pillow using linen, toile, and a piece of embroidery we got while traveling together...
I tied a matching toile bow on a wicker basket for the flowergirl.
A larger wicker box w/ lid will be used for the giftcards.
we're tying the place cards to real starfish (no, it's not smelly, but I've been warned by others that some starfish are... best to do a sniff test first )
instead of a limo, we have a 1950's car
I made fairly elaborate mass programs
Let's not forget the pewter crabs for table # holders
all the pics are in my album

We really arent doing very much. I dont have the patience, time or money to buy and DIY.
The only thing is that my mom is actually making my aisle runner...she will be painting it and drawing the words..so im excited about that!!!

I don't know if anything is truly unique, but I know that I have been trying to really think about the details. I'm trying not to stress and not to spend a lot of money at the same time.
We are also sticking with our theme of the holidays...since not too many people get married around that time of year, we are trying to use it as our inspiration.

Re: Wedding Details - what are you doing?
having a art nouveau/ vintage garden theme.. little galvanzed pails of flowers, ribbons.. lots of art work from that art movement, candles with vintage style latterns.. pics of brides from that era.. 20s 30s , no roses allowed in my wedding.. I hate them.. lol just lots of cala lillies and wild flowers.. really good music, no real traditions, non religious ceremony, I have readings from such poets and writers as Margret Atwood and Ayn Rand during the ceremony
My dress is very sleek and I am wearing a french bird cage veil..we are making petal cones and i will be using a vintage style papers to make them..
