Re: Wedding Disasters?

Found a story on the internet:

One of the favorite activities at seminary when life gets dull is to swap horror stories of worship services gone horribly wrong, and I’m fairly sure that the wedding stories are always the absolute worst. I heard one of these horror stories from my friend Dave one afternoon as I was heading back home from classes. Dave had the terrible misfortune of acting as the celebrant of a wedding in which his own cousin and his fiancée tied the knot. Now, to set the story up properly it’s important to point out that the groom’s fiancée also happened to be pregnant at the time, a fact which managed to slip out at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding took place. It’s also important to point out that the wedding was the first opportunity the fiancee’s family had to size up their busy new son-in-law to be. And, sadly, it’s also probably very important to point out that the fiancée and her family were all staunch members of the non-imbibing Church of Christ, and the groom on the fateful day was still very much in the process, the early process as it happens, of recovering from his celebrations the night before.

So, Dave recalled the scene for me still in a bit of shock as I listened with my mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief. He was up there at the pulpit, looking out over the congregation- one side, he remembers, definitely looking more unhappy than the other. And his cousin was right in front of him looking like death warmed over kind of wobbling a little. And Dave said that he was pretty nervous until the bride to be marched in, and then he thought things might go OK. Maybe they could just get through the wedding and everything really would turn out all right. Dave was wrong. As the bride and groom stood in front of him and he finished the opening sentences of scripture and started in the declaration of intent, he saw his cousin go from sick to sicker, and right there in front of God and everyone he let it all out. Dave said with particular horror that he didn’t even have the decency to miss the bride.

I just recently went to a wedding where, when they were saying their vows all you could here were the workers talking and rolling carts above them, no one danced except bride and groom, the food showed up at 11:30pm (wedding started at 6:00pm) and was ice cold (ever eat cold prime rib or salmon, gross), the DJ was doing a photo montage and put the wrong bride and groom on the screens (Bride was like, 'that's not me' 5 min into it) and to top it all off, you could not get drunk to dull the pain of it all b/c the liquor was watered down!

Went to a wedding recently where my husband's cell phone and some cash was stolen out of our hotel room. It was an outdoor wedding and some guests were using our bathroom but there were some people using our room that shouldn't have been.

My family has this ugly green cat statute that we pass around this mygreat grandmother passed away - It is very ugly- When my cousin got married my aunt (not her mom) dressed the cat up in navy like the bridesmaids - brought her tot he church and the reception all - there tones of pictures with the cat in it - my cousin was not happy

And i learned that i have to have control of the cat before my wedding happens -

I went to a wedding where the bride's father's best friend had a heart attack. The ambulance didn't get there fast enough and he died right in the middle of the reception, after dinner during the third or fourth song.

When I was married first time, my brother in law was taping and stepped on my train as I passed him going down the aisle. So, my train ripped and my butt was hanging out for all to see as we walked down the aisle in the church -- me with a great big smile on my face, not realizing I was giving a free show!

Someone mentioned to me that someone was having sex in the men's room during our wedding!

I guess everyone was in the mood for love...

Re: Wedding Disasters?

The saddest wedding I ever attended and I still think the marriage was a disaster after started with the groom leaving on his cell phone during the ceremony and actually checking it during the vows when it rang(he's a doctor BUT STILL!). Then at the reception his best man talked about how they all will miss hanging out in the 'bachelor pad' the groom lived in and that he didn't even know the bride really well so he couldn't say anything good about her. Then they handed her a ball and chain with a jailer t-shirt and told her she was keeping him down. She looked miserable, made me cry at the sight of her and she ended up spending most of the night hanging out at our table.

Overall, the most depressing wedding I ever attended. The only saving grace was her incredible and hot brother who got up and spoke (even though he wasn't supposed to) about how great(which is true!!!!) his sister is.

I was at a wedding where the bride's dad had a heart attack as well! Luckily he survived and was ok.

The worst wedding will be mine because I am planning it and I have never been to one so I know I am going to miss a bunch of stuff and ruin the whole thing.

Stop beating yourself up!!!! It will be the best wedding ever since it will be yours!

Re: Wedding Disasters?

I was at a wedding in Mass. a couple of years ago on an extremely hot summer day in August. The groom collapsed at the altar and almost brought the bride down with him. His father decided to have the priest continue the mass without the groom who was in the back sipping OJ and trying to recuperate. The bride just cried but never turned around to face the people. When he did come back out, the entire church gave him a standing ovation. There were so many other details that were crazy-a fan was blowing off this woman's wig, when the priest was with the groom in the back, he was wearing his microphone so we heard everything, and so on. The bride and groom didn't dance much for their wedding. The groom was sitting most of the time. Now they are happy and have a beautiful daughter. I have no idea what I would do if my fiance fainted. I'd have to kill him.

I went to a wedding where the bride did her bouquet toss and 3 of her bridesmaids tackled each other onto the floor (in their gowns of course) to try to grab it.

Hideous and so embarrassing.

The bouquet got shredded from 2 of the girls grabbing at it.
