how long did you wait after getting engaged to begin searching for your dress? i've been engaged for 3mos now and just can't motivate myself to do it. is there something wrong with me? is this a bad sign? ahhh! I'm not a big shopper but i'd think that i would be more excited to do this.

I waited for the last min... we were engaged in October 2007 and we booked everything by Novemeber 1st and i didnt start dress shopping till May lol

We got engaged 7/28/07 & I ordered my dress on Wednesday. It all depends. I found the one & I didn't even want to try anything else.

hmm...i waited a few months.. only 'cause we got engaged right before thanksgiving..so i waited untill all the holidays were done & just enjoyed being engaged for a while i went in january.

Ive been engaged for 3 months and am just going out on sunday to start looking. I had to have my 2 best friends make plans to drag me out lol! I just hate the hassles and im dreading the price tags!

i got engaged last month, only had 4 months to plan so i tried on dresses a week after our engagement and bought it then!!!

It's been 5 months for me and I am no where close to looking for one. I might wait until next month to shop. Dont be discouraged. Some take more time than others.

i think you have to be in the right mindset to go dress shopping, especially for your wedding gown! find a good time to do it...once you're on a roll, you're not going to want to stop until you've found the one.

We got engaged 12/31/06. I didn't start looking for dresses until June, so about 6 months or so. You have plenty of time! Go when you are ready.

I started looking for dresses 10 months after I got engaged. I have started looking on online for dresses for ideas but didnt actually go to salons unti this past May/June

Ohhh! thank you all so much for your responses. I feel much better about my current state of motivation (or lack thereof). It seems we just all go our own paces with this and it's not necessarily a bad sign or anything. What a relief!!

my engagement will be 22 months long so almost 2 years so thats why i was like oh i have enough time to go dress shopping...WHen i did finally go after 8 months, it was 14 months before my wedding date so it was more than enough time. So keep in mind that some of us waited a while bc we also had long engagments. My dress is taking a year to come in and ill have 2 months left for fittings so it works out

I started looking online and went to a store to see a few of what I saw online in person. I won't really start looking until next month.
