Wedding dress advise please

Wedding dress advise please

I was never one to dream about my wedding, so I had no clue what I wanted in a wedding dress so here's the prob....
Ok so I bought my wedding dress over a month ago. Its a simple trumpet dress. I loved it when I put it on, but now Im in complete doubt about it. First off its the one and only dress I put on, it was a total impulse that I bought it. Second, now Im thinking its the only time I can really wear something princess like. Im terrified to go and try it on again for fear I really wont be happy.....What should I do?
Plus before I went to try on the dress I showed my FH a picture of it (and a few others) and he didnt like it.

Did you already purchase it? Can you still go and pick another dress if you want, or are you stuck with it?

MIght be a good idea to find out, this way you at least know what your options are.

You said you fell in love with it when you first tried it on, which to me says that there was something about it that MADE you fall in love with it. I think that maybe you are just listening to what other people are saying, and its making you second guess it.

I fell in love with my dress the first time I tried it on, but then forgot about it when I tried on a bunch of dresses afterwards and thought I found some that I liked better. When I finally tried it on again, I fell in love with it again...so I knew it was right.

Yeah I definately didnt want to take it off when I tried it on, that I remember. I hope I fall back inlove with it. I have no clue why I am second guessing myself...maybe its just my nerves. Thanx for the advice. Im going to call to find out what my options are, just in case.

I would definitely call the store where you ordered it. Your wedding is 19 or 20 months away, they may not have even ordered it yet.

Well here's my advice, as a fellow trumpet/mermaid dress wearer: It is true, this is one of the only times you can wear a 'princess like' dress without looking like a complete fool, however I'm not sure when else you can wear a grand dress with a true trumpet or mermaid shape either besides a ball or something. I loved a lot of different style dresses but there was just something extra glamorous and old hollywood about that style. And I cannot tell you how many people were genuinely loving my gown. If you want to be traditional, go with the sleeveless princess/cinderella gown look, and you will be gorgeous! If you want a bit of a different, and in some opinions even more glamorous, go for the style you got.....and you will look gorgeous then too! Definitely find out what your options are and do what is most comfortable, but something tells me if you fell in love with it before, it was for a reason.

i really think this is normal!!! i'm having dress regret too, and am starting to think i should've bought the other one i loved. but i really think once we try them on again we'll remember the reasons we loved them in the first place!!! you're not alone though!

Re: Wedding dress advise please

yeah you guys are right. I really think I fell in love with that dress for a reason, I think im just getting nervous, my wedding is so far away and Im letting my nerves get the better of me, I hope. I just happened to see a dress on some stupid show that took my breath away and then the doubts began. But if i really think back thats how i felt when I saw my dress too!!!
Thats soo funny that someone else thought of a trumpet style as old hollywood glamor cause I swear thats what I said as soon as I put my dress on!!!!

You said your FH didn't like it - just wait until he sees you on your wedding day in full regalia. He's bound to have tears in his eyes.

What is most important is that YOU loved the dress the minute you put it on. You had that WOW moment that just made you melt, and is the reason why you tried on no other dresses.
The trumpet shape sounds so elegant, and is so different that the poofy, pick-up dresses that most brides wear today.
You will stand out. Wear it in good health.

just out of curiosity, why did you show him a picture ? My husband did not want to know anything at all, wanted to be completely surprised on our wedding day, and wow him I did.

Wow i thought i was the only one going through second thoughts lol...i went to kleinfelds and had the best experience i purchased my gown from the Kenneth Pool fall 2008 trunk show and i absolutely loved it , after trying on alot of dresses and going to a few places this was the one...but now! i'm thinking maybe i should have gone with something different ( mine is dropped waist) its called Vivian on the kenneth pool website . I HATE the way the dress looks on the site but i just have to keep reminding myself how much i loved it at kleinfelds... And a bit of advice once the dress is altered to your fit it will look beautiful. I'm keeping mine im not going back now lol

Re: Wedding dress advise please

This happens to me all the time...I see dresses posted on here, or in a bridal shop, and I regret my dress choice. But then EVERY SINGLE time I put it on, for fittings or whatever, I fall totally in love with it again. It will be great!

Re: Wedding dress advise please

Ok I only showed FH a picture because I really want him to love the wedding dress I wear, I want that 'take his breath away' moment. I showed him a few pictures so he really has no clue what I picked out. (it killed me a bit when he said he didnt like it) Might not have been the smartest thing to do but at the time I thought it was a good idea.
I really feel a whole lot better knowing other people have had doubts about the dress, but that they fall right back in love with it. thank you so much my mind is more at ease.

Re: Wedding dress advise please

FH's are dumb when it comes to dresses really..

Mine didn't like my dress either because its not what he pictures a bride wearing his whole life..

Funny thing is that he's been picturing our wedding longer than I have and thinks of poofy white.... and I just wanted a dress that was going to flatter me.

Besides, dresses always look different when you put them on.

So I say, go try it, if you still hate and are stuck with it, there is always ebay! ... and I'm pretty sure the girls on here desperate to get a dress quick might take it off your hands.

I'm worried my FH won't like my dress (a 'fit and flare' ... trumpetey/mermaidey)
but I will not show him at all and already told him I don't care if you hate it- tell me I look beautiful anyway!
