Wedding Dress Alterations - HELP!!!!
Help! I ordered my dress from David's Bridal and I figured I would have them do the alterations since it's one of their dresses and they should know best how to work with it. However, I should have known from the awful customer service that the alteration department wouldn't be much better!
I have a satin halter dress with a satin sash and an organza and lace overlay that has a scalloped edge and a chapel train. The sample dress was a little short on me with my heels, so I was told to order the extra length and that they would basically pull the length up from the waist so that none of the detailing at the bottom of the dress would be lost and any seams would be under the sash. I asked a few different people in the store multiple times if this is definitely how it would be done because I didn't want to have any issues.
Well I got there yesterday excited to have my first fitting and the woman doing the pinning went to start pinning the bottom of my dress... I explained to her how I was told the alterations would be done and she said no, she was going to cut the overlay above the edging and then sew the edging back on to the bottom of the dress! All I could picture was this very visible, ugly seam going all around my dress. I told her absolutely not and I left the store.
So, I have 2 questions for you ladies:
Have you ever heard of altering lace or organza in this way before?
Can any of you please recommend a professional to do alterations?
The wedding is on October 2nd, so I don't have too much time to find someone and have them be able to fit me into their schedule.
Any info you can give me is greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks
