Hello everyone, can anyone please tell me some inexpensive places to go and buy a wedding dress? It would be a plus if there are no alteration fees. The problem is that the wedding is in August and I have made the mistake of waiting to loose weight, but now I am worried.
I also have another problem...........I don't live in NYC. I live in DC but my wedding will be in NYC because I used to live there and my whole family is there.

went to a few stores down here that were good and i thought they were pretty inexpensive compared to what i've seen at other places. let me know if you want to get more specific with what prices you're looking for/if you want names of places

How long before the wedding will you be in NY? It might make more sense for you to buy your dress in DC. I'd be surprised if you find a place with no alterations fees... but remember that you don't need to get your alterations done at the bridal place, if you know an inexpensive tailor. And do consider white bridesmaids dresses as an option. Something like this or this or this (all Alfred Angelo dresses) in white/ivory, for example, would be the same as a wedding dress and cost under $250.
Do you have any pics of the type of dress you're looking for?

You can still go dress shopping in DC though and just have your dress shipped to NY or you can bring it on the plane with you when you fly up for the wedding.
I would also consider looking into stores like Nordstrom and lines like BHLDN from Urban Outfitters. Places like Nordstrom often have white dresses that work for wedding gowns.

There is also a Filene's Running of the Brides scheduled in DC for this Friday 4/29 at the Mazza Gallerie!

With this amount of time, you should definitely do the Running of the Brides!
ETA: My wedding is 2 months after yours. I ordered my dress 2 weeks ago and it won't be in until August.
