All the magazines say we're supposed to buy our wedding dresses 6-12 months before the wedding, but the fittings don't start until 1 month before...
Is that what everyone here did? What if you lost a lot of weight? How many sizes can they pull in the dress?
My wedding is in August, but I already found a dress I love so I'm not sure if I should buy it and in what size since I started exercising and hope to lose 15lbs by next year (hoping... )

HMMM - i was scheduled to start my fittings about 2 and a half months prior to the wedding....maybe check on that.

My wedding is end of October, I bought my dress at the end of January, it came in the middle of June. My first fitting was August 30th - just shy of 2 months prior to the wedding.
As long as you feel that you will lose 15 pounds, then you can order the dress smaller, BUT it is more difficult to let out a dress than take it in. 15 pounds is only about one dress size.

I ordered my dress in January and im getting married in Dec... almost a year before. Im only having my 1st fitting on Oct 21st... I lost about 10 lbs and they said it would be fine. Im glad I ordered it b/c now it is discontinued and it only came out 2 days before I ordered it!! I think you will be fine :)

i bought my dress 4 months before my wedding!!!!!! and its coming in a month before.

hmm in my situation i put a deposit down on the dress about 13-14 months from my wedding. but i didnt get measured and the order didn't actually go to the manufacturer yet. she told me she would put the order in later on down the road so it was up to me on if i wanted to take my measurements then, or when she had to place the actual order. i told her i wanted to wait in hopes of losing weight (of course i didnt), but she called and said it was time and im going in tomorrow to get my measurements (9 months till wedding). maybe you can work something out with your store...

Thanks for all your responses! I think I'll just buy the dress now so I don't have to wake up every morning wondering if its going to be discontinued :)
