Just wondering if you girls had some thoughts. My wedding is March 26,2010, and I went to David's Bridal to get my dress. There was no problem w/ them, but I went w/ my grandmother and mother - they loved the first dress I put on ( I thought it was really nice, too).
Tried on a bunch more. There was one I really liked but twice what I could pay. I put on the first dress I tried on again, and they were just like, 'Kate, this is your dress. This is you.'
So, they just kept telling me to just get it, for once, don't be so indecisive. This was the first store, first time we went dress shopping. So I got it.
The dress came in and I took it home and tried it on again and I really liked it. It probably would be a dress I would choose...but I guess I feel a little sad b/c I dont LOVE it, like, the way everyone says you fall in love with a dress.
So, the dilemma is this. David's Bridal is final sale, no exchanges. Is it that big of a deal that I dont LOVE the dress? I really like it and think it is beautiful, but I didn't necessarily get that 'wow' factor. They did (mom and Nana) but I guess I just felt rushed....like maybe I would have liked more time to think or look, just so I could be sure.
So, that being said, do I just keep it? March is soon, so I don't know if it is worth it to look for another dress, when I could very well end up with the one I have now. Or should I try to sell it on Ebay and keep looking? There's no guarantee I'll find another one.
Should I just be happy w/ what I have, since what is done is done...or should I try to find a different one?
The dress I got is David's Bridal v9409. It definitely is prettier on than in the picture...
I'm so indecisive! Grrrr!

aww I think it's beautiful..is it that you think you want a totally different style? If not I was going to say maybe you could have them add some things to it..crystals, appliques etc. not sure if David's would actually do it but you could bring it somewhere that does

Re: wedding dress debates - keep it or get another?
I just wanted to start off by saying this is a beautiful dress!
Anywho, I didn't necessarily get that 'This is the one' feeling when I got my dress, too. There were a few that could've been the one but that I just kept comparing to one other or saying 'If it only had this...' so that's how I decided.
You can definitely look if you want, but I wouldn't sell the DB dress until you purchased and received the other one (if you decide to purchase anyway) just because it is 5 mos. away and that's cutting it close.
Another thing to consider is you are going to be completely transformed on your wedding day. You'll have your hair done, make-up, nails, accessories, flowers, and the wedding glow. So although you have a picture of how you'll look in your head, you can't be sure yet.
But, if you're really unhappy and you think that it would really bother you on your wedding day, start looking for a new dress! Good luck! HTH!
ETA: Second thoughts are normal! I can't think of one bride who purchased her dress and was completely 100% sure of it all the way trhough to her wedding. Just try to remember why you and your family picked it in the first place!

If you think its not 'the one' then i would keep looking!
It is a very pretty dress tho!!
but just today on the newlyweds board the NWQOTD was what is something you could change about your wedding...
a bunch of girls answered they wish they spent more time picking out their dress!
you dont wanna have any regrets, cuz this day is about you and your hubby!!!! i would look around, you may not even find another dress you like more than the one you bought!
but if you do you will know it!
for me i knew the dress i picked out was 'the one' because when i tried it on, it was the only dress that i actually pictured myself walking down the aisle with

I think your dress is gorgeous and honestly I would keep it if it were me-I wouldn't want to lose the $$.

It's a beautiful dress!
I had the same feelings after my first fitting. I loved the look of the dress when I first bought it but when I went for the fitting all I could do was second guess myself. It wasn't until my second fit after all the alterations were done that I was in love with it again! Have you gotten it altered yet, maybe that's all it will take for you to fall in love.
My other suggestion is if you really want a new dress I wouldn't put the other one on ebay until you find a new one. It reall is a beautiful dress!

I am going throught the same thing right now, except I don't have my dress yet in hand. Also, you picked the first dress, the first place... if you hadn't, it sounds like you would've been like me... 15 stores and 70 dresses later, I STILL feel... oh I don't think its THE dress (I think I was just so tired of looking). But I never did get that feeling, because I was able to criticize every other dress I put on. Maybe we are all just too critical and will never be totally happy?? I totally envy the girls that really got the 'this is THE ONE' feeling!
It IS a beautiful dress, (I hear this all the time about my dress) but to be honest, most of them are! It's about how it makes you feel. I don't know what I am going to do yet, either...
Good luck!

Wellllllllllll, I think if you really can't picture yourself walking down the aisle in it then go try some other dresses on and see if anything DOES make you feel that way...then at that point I would consider trying to sell the original dress...

Great replies, ladies. Thank you. It was very helpful. It was nice to hear how others had second thoughts, too. I can definitely see myself walking down the aisle in it...I just wonder if there is one I would like better.
It is the perfectionist in me, and I am totally seeing, that in planning a wedding, that mentality has TO GO!!! Otherwise, this will be a miserable experience. AND IT SHOULDNT BE!!!
Thanks again... I may look more, but I think it will be just fine!

I am still looking around as well. I have found a dress i love and want to walk down the aisle in but there is so much pressure I want to make sure I order the right one and don't settle. So many people have 2nd thoughts and i want to try and avoid that...my friends and family think i am crazy! look around but the dress you have is stunning. And like another bride said---you could always bling it up some more if you want!!! good luck

i have to agree with the other girls.... the dress is beautiful! But you have to love your dress.. I wouldnt want to have regrets!!! The same thing happened to me, i went shopping with my aunt and i put on a dress and she was WAYYYYYY excited about it but i wasnt and i jhust couldnt cave to what she felt... in fact i flew my mom up from Flo to help me find a dress and she had loved this other dress and i still got the one I loved the most.... but she liked it too
