Wedding dress issues

Wedding dress issues

Hi all,

So I haven't really posted many times before but I'm starting to freak out a bit about my wedding dress so I thought I would post to get some opinions. Sorry if this gets long!

My wedding is this December, so I started dress shopping early and ordered my dress in February so that it would have plenty of time to get here. About two weeks ago, I got the call from the store saying that my dress was in and I was so excited to go try it on.

So I made an appointment and went to the store to try it on and while the dress went on me and zipped up, as soon as I had it on fully I knew it was way too small on me since I couldn't even move and barely breathe.

After measuring the dress itself and comparing it to the size chart of the designer, we realized that the manufacturer had cut it smaller than the size chart said it should be. On top of that, when they remeasured me, we realized that the woman who originally measured me took my measurements wrong too.

So since the dress itself was cut wrong, they sent it back to the designer for 'inspection' so that they would send us a new dress in the proper size. I heard back from them today that the designer will be sending a new dress (sized a bit bigger just to be safe) but it won't get here until the end of September.

At this point I'm really concerned that if it doesn't come in the timeframe they claim it will, there won't be enough time to have it fitted before the wedding. They gave me the option to get my money back so that I could look for a dress elsewhere but I'm nervous that other stores won't be able to get it this quickly either.

So any advice would be really appreciated... Do you ladies think I should stick with the store and hope they deliver in time or go somewhere else altogether?

Thanks!

I think you will be fine if the dress comes in at the end of September even the beginning of October should give you enough time for alterations. I personally would prefer that option over having to start the search for another dress.
Sorry this happened to you!

You will not have a problem. My alterations were done less than a month before my wedding.

You will have enough time for alterations. I was told that my alterations won't be until 6 weeks before the wedding. So don't worry about it as long as it comes between the end of September and beginning-mid October you should be fine.

This stinks...sorry you're going through it!! Like many of the other Brides I too was told to start alterations about 6 weeks before..and remember the dress salon relizes they are on the hook here and I'm sure they are going to make certain you have plenty of time!!

When my dress originally came in, the May before my wedding, it had a small hole in the tulle and had to be sent back to the designer. They said they were going to make a whole new dress. I was pretty nervous about it, but it came in, in plenty of time. I'm sure you will be fine.

You only need 4-6 weeks for alterations... plus your wedding is in the 'off season' so they will really only need 4 weeks. You will be fine! Sorry this happened to you!!
