Re: Wedding dress shopping
The first shop I went to was Priscilla of Boston in Roslyn Heights. They were having a trunk show. It was the Saturday of President's Weekend. We had appointments scheduled for Monday (day off) also. I found my dress, we bought it, and I canceled the other appointments.
One of the reasons I went there was because a woman I work with recommended them. Her daughter got married last April. They visited a lot of different stores. They liked the service they received there. I have been very happy with them so far.

Re: Wedding dress shopping
I went shopping gown shopping for the first and last time this past Saturday. I found the dress of my dreams!!!
I went to David's Bridal first, while it wasn't the greatest experience, it enabled me to try on a lot of dresses in my size. It was a great place to start, as it enabled me to see what I do and don't like and what looks good on me. My second stop was to Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. They were great! The prices are good and I found an awesome dress.
Shopping was fun, but VERY tiring. Have fun and good luck!

Re: Wedding dress shopping
I will be starting too soon.. but I am dreading it.. I hate trying things on in stores.. Im just too lazy.. I have no idea what I want, so it should be interesting.. that's why my mom is going ... knowing me, I'd pick the first one I try on... my mom will be the voice of reason

As siily as it may sound, be prepared to be wiped out after a day of shopping. It's very draining physically and emotionally. The first few dresses arer a lot of fun because it's like playing dress up. Then you start getting critical and start searching for that perfect dress. And don't worry about it, you will find it. Enjoy the process and good luck!

Re: Wedding dress shopping
I just ordered my dress this past weekend! I ordered it from the first place I looked - Priscilla of Boston - I went to another place after that but I ended up going back to PRiscillas to order it.

Re: Wedding dress shopping
The first time I went, I had a cold and my grandfather passed away that morning..but since I was told I needed to order my dress at least 8 months before the wedding and it was already that time, and I was going with my mom and FMIl and MOH, my mom didn't want me to cancel my appointment..anyway I really wasn't in the mood I just went b/c I had too, not with a clear head.
So I saw my dress at the 2nd store I went to, thought about it and went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place to purchase it..

Re: Wedding dress shopping
I got my dress elsewhere. My sister got her dress at Blanchees, and they were very good to her, so I went there. I live in the City so its much easier for me to shop here. I tried on a million dresses all over NY but the one I ended up buying, I tried on for the first time at Blanchees. It was meant to be.

Re: Wedding dress shopping
Went to two places in one day - found my dress at the second place.
I recommend going to a larger place first to narrow down your styles (like a David's Bridal). I was SURE I wanted an A-Line, strapless dress and ended up with a princess halter that I LOVE!!
Then go to a more 'intimate' place where you will get full attention! I did it backwards, and even though I wound up getting my dress at the 2nd place, I was disappointed in the service going from a smaller personal salon to a large department store feel.
Do you know which designers you like? If you do, then go to their website and see where they are sold.
I went to Davids Bridal my first time, it was ok.

Re: Wedding dress shopping
The first place I tried on dresses was the Wedding Salon of Manhasset, I did go check out many other places afterwards, but I ended up going back to the Wedding Salon.

Re: Wedding dress shopping
If your budget is $2000 + a good place to start is Klienfelds. If your budget is lesst than that, I recommend RK.
I have a previous post of where I bought my gown. Definitely recommend Blanchee.
