wedding dress shopping

when you went shopping for the first time did you bring pics of the style of dress you liked?

also, how far ahead of time to you HAVE to order your dress without paying rush fees? I am getting mixed answers. Most are saying 6 months.

i was told you have to order 6 months in advance
i had some pictures with me for my first dress appt...but honestly i ended up trying on every style possible bc what looks good in pictures isnt always what works for your body type.
also, i think being open to different styles is helpful...there are girls that i know and also girls on here that order a dress based on what they liked in a magazine then see something later on and they love it more.

EXACTLY this for the first time.. once you start eliminating styles you can tell them you want A line, or you don't like lace or stuff like that.. pics help start you off and then you can go from there..

thanks girls! I am really trying to lose some weight before actually placing the order but wanted to get out and try on some dresses! I just get so worried that I am running out time.

I went with no pictures. I knew what I didn't want....nothing blingy or too poofy. Also didn't love strapless...


But I went and tried on a bunch of different silhouettes to start to narrow things down, and went from there

I also ordered mine 9 months before my wedding and it came in 2.5 months before my wedding. To me, 6 months is cutting it a bit close....alterations took a while

yes that is why I am a little worried. I asked both shops that I am going to and they said 6 months. So we will see how it goes. I am not going to wait until exactly 6 months, I was thinking more like 7.
