I heard stories too, that's why I decided to design my own dress and get it made. What I've been doing is going on different web sites and taken parts of the gowns that I like and making my own designs. I am almost finish with design one, then I will start on design two. My prayer is to have 4 to 5 designs by March pick out the one I like the most, take the material to Florida to my aunt so she can start making my dress and my girls dresses.

There's a beautiful little boutique called Bridal Accents in Roslyn.

That's so cool! You're really taking DIY to a new level! I'll be so excited to see photos when you're done.

Re: Wedding Dresses!
that was a great idea.. this way it will definitely be everything you've ever wanted.. cant wait to see pics! as far as where to shop.. my best friend (hayleyandsteve) went to kleinfelds and we all expected them to be soo snotty.. but they couldn't have been nicer-- it was an amazing experience.. they are so professional and are really good at what they do.. i swear they can read your mind..thats why you walk out and THEN it hits you that you just dropped over 5g's.. but they have less expensive dresses aswell.. people think because its kleinfelds its over priced.. but if you tell them what youre looking for and how much you wanna spend they will def help you.. and they have trunk shows.. that was the best part.. hayley put on the dress and in walks the designer.. amazinggg.. (i was impressed) but you also get a certain % off.. so look out for those at any boutique... hth and HAPPY SHOPPINGGGG!!!

that is really cool and the dress will definitely be one of a kind. Someone from work offered her friends services, apparently she makes wedding dresses but it makes me nervous because I don't know her friend, and I know custom made gowns can get pricey!

I will either go to Valentina's in Brooklyn, or maybe Lilettes in Baldwin. I think I am going to get my BM dresses through the RK Bridal no frills program.

Re: Wedding Dresses!
I liked Fantasia Bridal in Wading River. There's a bunch of sweet old ladies running around and they were too cute. I haven't been to too many places though. I probably won't do any hardcore dress shopping until next summer though.
