$2k is not a bad dress budget IMO! When you go dress shopping just tell them your budget, I found that for the most part they're pretty respectful and won't bring you dresses out of your budget. I would call the dress shop before you go and tell them your budget because some places (but not many) start at a higher price minimum.

alfred angelo dresses are poorly made...sophia tolli dresses are beautiful. My dress is lazaro...way overpriced but well worth the $$$...I'll save on flowers!!

A word of advice, many brides on this website have Alfred Angelo dresses. I'd try and be a little more PC in the future.
