Wedding dresses- options on sites like oncewed?

Wedding dresses- options on sites like oncewed?

I went to a few boutiques in DC this weekend and tried on the most gorgeous dresses and had the best time. So it was kind of a letdown when I realized that most of the dresses were way out of my price range. I then thought to look up the dresses on sites like oncewed and ebay and saw a ton of choices. Has anyone gotten their dress from a site like oncewed or preownedweddingdresses? Or, do you know of any discounters? The designers I loved were Judd Waddell, Monique Lhuillier, Jenny Lee and Melissa Sweet.

Thanks!

I personally haven't purchased a dress online, but I know a person who 'purchased' then donated a dress to http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/

I think it's an AMAZING site, check them out.

no but I did buy my dress at the bridal garden (in NYC not LI) which sells only used dresses either from designer photo shoots or brides and are all 30-50 off and then they donate to charity. . so a cheaper option but you get to try them on. .

I actually bought my melissa sweet reception dress. I'm wearing the Mari from preownedweddingdresses.com Its an amazing dress and I got it for less than $400.

Believe it or not, I was brave and bought my dress from one of those Chinese Wholesale websites. It wound up costing me just under 300 dollars for the dress and petticoat, and it came out gorgeous!

Wow, thanks for all of the advice. Re the Chinese wholesale websites- did you just send them a picture of the dress and your measurements?

Also, thank you for the Bridal Garden recommendation! I'm definitely going to check it out the next time I go home.

I got my dress from a girl on Craig's list for $150. It's Mori Lee, originally $900, worn once at her wedding 2 years ago, and I love it and it's gorgeous. I talked with her on the phone a few times after calling her and went to her home in Brooklyn (which is where I am anyway) to try it on. It was a little bit, so I'm having it altered.

I did all of this within 2 weeks of when I got engaged (we are only doing a 6 month engagement) but you have so so so much time, I'm sure you can find something you adore that's extremely reasonable. I suppose it depends on how choosy you are and what maters to you, but I'm so loving my dress -- I never imagined I could be so happy going such an untraditional route to find a wedding dress, but I am!

I am actually having my dress custom made for a fraction of the cost. The company I am using gets their dresses made in china.

The site that I ordered from had pictures of dresses to choose from, but I sent in my measurements when I ordered... I got the dress in just under a month too! Needed no alterations! Except for a hem, but I ordered it a little long because I wasn't sure how much the petticoat would pull it up.
