Here's my question: my FI and I are planning to get married in a Roman Catholic church. We have been thinking about April 2004 but Easter is 4/11 so I know that 4/10 is out, but can we get married on the 3rd? I've heard that you can't get married during lent, is this true? I'm still waiting for the priest to call me back.

Re: Wedding during Lent?
I am pretty sure you can get married during lent. Usually if it is a Friday the priest gives a dispensation, so you can eat meat. I dont think that is the right word but thats waht it means. I guess it could all depend on the church too. Although that is really close to easter they may not allow it. sorry I can't help more.

I think you can get married during lent. I do think I remember someone saying they don't allow flowers in the church at this time.

You can get married during Lent. To be sure though, check with your church. I am getting married in a R.C. church the day before Palm Sunday in 2003. The day before Easter is definitely not permitted.

JENHOS brings up a good point - definitely ask about the flowers. My church goes all out with the decorating for Lent - you would probably have to use what they already have. Might cause color-scheme issues.

Yes you can get married during lent. I am getting married during lent of next year. You can't get married the Saturday before Easter. My priest told use he would let us know in January if I can or can't have flowers at the church. Less money for me to spend

I am getting married during lent (april 5) at a RC Church and it was no problem. Just remember that during lent they cover the alter and the crosses. I forgot and am a little upset that my alter will be covered with a a purple drape

Something to consider - you might look into getting married right after Easter b/c a lot of churches go 'all out' with their floral budgets for the Easter celebration, and that might cut down on your floral needs at the church. Plus, you don't need a dispensation to have the wedding.

Re: Wedding during Lent?
I am getting married on good friday. I can not have a church ceremony on this day. However my priest offered me the weekends before this in April, which would be during lent. So I think as long as you stay away from easter weekend you are ok.
