Wedding Father's Day weekend?

Hi Ladies, I need some opinions.

FI and I originally booked our date for June 11, 2005, then realized that the date caused problems with my flowergirl and 2 cousins coming from San Diego b/c of school. So, I contacted the 2 vendors I had already booked and asked if I could push it back a week, which they both agreed to. Now, we've realized that we booked it for the Saturday of Father's day weekend. FI wants to change the date again, but I don't think it's a big deal. All of my family who attend will be coming in from out of town and it will kind of be nice to have everyone together for father's day. He thinks it will be a problem for our tri-state guests though with traffic and stuff.

How would you feel about going to an afternoon wedding on the Saturday before father's day? Should we change the date again? Thanks!

An afternoon wedding, I think at least on the weekend of Father's day would be fine. I travel from CT to see all my family in NY alll the time, if people are worried about traffic they can leave after the wedding, or better yet Sunday morning. I have never hit traffic going back up to CT on a sunday morning, Including just this past Memorial Day.

GO for it! Don't worry about everyone else, do what you guys want!!

My wedding is ON Father's Day this year. I'll let you know what happens with traffic (although I am also dealing with US Open golf out in Shinnecock that weekend, so that will add to the traffic)

I don't think the Saturday before will be a problem.

I wouldn't have a problem going to a wedding Father's Day weekend at all! Have fun with the planning!

I think the Sat before Fathers day is fine!
It shouldn't be a problem with traffic

I think that will be fine. Traffic the day before shouldn't be that bad. And it'll be nice for your dads to see everyone!

Thanks ladies! That's what I was thinking. Of course, the bridal party would probably have to go back Sunday morning (we're having an after party, but not everyone will stay), but I'm thinking it shouldn't be too bad. FI got a little upset about it last night though. He said something along the lines of, 'I don't get to have a sya about anything in this wedding.' But when I ask him anything, he says he doesn't care. Ugh. hehe!
