I have never been to a wedding where the hosts distribute favors. Most of the weddings I have attended are Jewish and at a temple- the favors look cute though, I wonder if i'm missing out?!!

Well, In my experience, the favors are at the reception and the hall arranges for them to be set at ever placesetting or every other depending on the arrangement.
We are giving small Maple-leaf shapped glass bottles of maple syrup with the 3 almond candy tied to the neck of the bottle. Since these ar for every couple, we are also placing a basket of just the almonds wrapped in tulle on the escourt table (where the place cards are) so that people can take one if they'd like their own.
I think favors are nice, though some people don't even have any. I save things...so I always like having something from a wedding. What it is can be as varying as your wedding compared to anyone elses...so it's pretty limitless.
