Can you please help me decide on an appropriate $$$ gift for a Sunday daytime wedding at Chateau Briand this weekend? The couple did not come to our wedding, or of course I would just match their gift.
TIA!
Edited: Although they are a nice couple, we aren't particularly close to them (they weren't invited to ours and it was a surprise to be invited to theirs). i've never been to chateau briand or a sunday-day wedding.

Re: wedding gift $$$ amount?
IMO...it shouldn't matter if it's a Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday...It should depend on your relationship with this person and what you can reasonably afford. I know that my RH doesn't change their price depending on the day. What was their reasoning for not attending your wedding?

Agreed on the gift part (although RH's charge different for fri, sat, sun I dont base gift on this I base it on my closeness) Personally I give 300 to friends from me and FH.

I think if it was a suprise that you were invited then you should give what you can. A reasonable guestimate would be between $250 & $350.

BTW...don't you hate that random thick envelope that shows up and you're like...why are they inviting me to their wedding?!?!?! DH just got an invite from some one that he worked with a year ago, no longer works at that job or has talked to him since he left...he didn't even have me (with my neater handwriting) write the check mark that we wouldn't be attending. He opened it at the mailbox took the pen out of his pocked checked NO and put it in the out going mail! At least no one can complain about us RSVPing late!!!

I agree with the above poster, I would give between $250-$300. I wouldn't give less than $200 for a couple.

Re: wedding gift $$$ amount?
$200 is a decent gift. Many of our friends just do $100 per person when giving gifts, if you can afford more, go for it.

Re: wedding gift $$$ amount?
FH and I do a base of $300 for each wedding. We raise the amt depending on our relationship with the couple. Family is usually $500 but upwards of $1000.

I totally agree too. And I never think the place or day should be a factor in gift giving. A wedding is a wedding no matter when or where it takes place.

Re: wedding gift $$$ amount?
shouldn't matter when or where the wedding is... the amount should be determined by how close you are to the couple.
JMO, but if you and your FH are going, I'd give around $200.
