Re: Wedding gift amounts?

just as an FYI, what I have given in the past was not what we received back...

I only caution you because if you are thinking about using these numbers as a projection, it will probably not be accurate.

Me and a bunch of other brides who got married around the same time were talking about how now that our showers and weddings have passed, we decided to scale back on gifts. Based upon what we received, we agreed that we may have been overspending on gifts in the past.

One example is that 2 years ago, DH and I went to a wedding and gave $300. When this couple came to our wedding, they gave $200. And, the wife was actually a no-show.

Re: Wedding gift amounts?

I absolutely agree! It really isn't about how much you spend on the couple, but that you are there to celebrate the new life the two will share together. This stuff is such a pain to figure out!

Re: Wedding gift amounts?

I try to give whatever I can afford, but I've given gifts of $200, $150, I think for really close friends I would LIKE to give more...$300 or $500, but depending on my situation at the time will determine what I can afford to give.....But it was amazing to see the gifts that I got from people that I know can afford more. Oh well not everyone is generous.
