Wedding Gift Help Needed BADLY!!!

Wedding Gift Help Needed BADLY!!!

Okay - here's a doozy....

A good friend of mine is getting married for the...(brace yourselves) 4th time. She marrired once before I met her and since I met her - she's married in Vegas 3 times (twice to the same man, hard to explain).

I sent my standard gift for her second marriage (a beautiful sculpture). The third & fourth she married the same man after divorcing him and she kinda kept that away from me knowing how much i DESPISED that man....so I never got her anything & she never really made a big to-do about it..

Now - i'm in her wedding this time. It's in Chicago, so it involves hotel rooms, car rental, etc. She bought the dress (it's Hawaiian themed) & flipflops for me, but hair & makeup i'll pay for on the day of.

What do I do for a gift?????? I'm truly at a loss here....
(please keep in mind - we are paying for our own wedding, so all money is MEGA budgeted for).

I dont know because i never gave a gift at a wedding. Did she have her bridal shower already, i guess maybe something that is left on the registry

I'd give them $100, or a gift off of their registry for about the same. No more than that.

They aren't registering. They are combining both of their households and they aren't young. He's in his late 30's and she's 35.

No shower, no registry. This is his first wedding...so that's the reason for the hoopla with the wedding -otherwise - i'm sure she would've gone to vegas again...

I love her - please don't get me wrong...i just feel so badly for her 2 daughters. The example she is setting for them makes me sad...

Honestly, I think anything you give her should be well appreciated. If you ever find the right time just find a way to let her know that you are on a shoestring budget and that you are honored to be in her wedding party because she means a great deal to you but that you won't be able to shower her with lavish gifts because money is really tight. As someone who's planned and gone through with FOUR weddings...she should understand completely

You should buy her, 'The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands' in hopes of making this one workor, a gift certificate to her divorce lawyer.

LOL

No in all seriousness though....are they going anywhere cool on their HM...maybe you can get her an underwater camera or something....just a small gift but a useful one- its about $200+ that should be enough considering all the other things your spending $$ on...either that or see if a group wants to chip into soemthing for the couple like luggage or a TV or a BBQ or soemthing....HTH! Excuse my wise assness

i think anything you give her will be fine and appreciated she can't expect people to go overboard seeing as this is her 4th go at marriage. you could try to hint around about things on your registery see if she comments that she's always wanted one of those, etc.
