I would say aminimum of $250. This way you cover both of your plates and a gift as well. You do what you can. GL

i replied on LIF - i say, if you are broke, give what you can afford, even if it's just a card. and for those of us getting married (though we may secretly think otherwise) i don't think we should ever expect any kind of gift at a wedding - but be pleasantly surprised if we get them.

Have you looked on their registry? I think that it's sometimes easier to buy off the registry and spend $50-100 (or even less) and give an actual item than to just give a smaller amount of cash/check. Most people put a range of prices on their registry, and that way you don't have to feel as if you're being cheap with your check because it's not about the monetary amount, it's about the gift.

I definitely don't think you should feel obligated to cover your plates or anything like that.

I also, by the way, second that you give what you can, even if it's just a card - I would not in any way be upset or offended by receiving $50 or even $25 or even just a card from someone who I know is struggling with money (or even someone who I don't know this about... because you never really do know!)

I agree, don't do more than you can afford. You were not invited because they want a gift, you were invited because they care about you.

I would give a gift off the registry! I've done that before, that way your still giving them something that they'd like and you wont go broke!!
