I went to a wedding on June 7th and we gave the couple a check. To date, it has not been cashed. When is it time for me to ask her if everything is alright? TIA

I believe you have 60 or 90 days to cash a check before it is no longer valid....you might want to check with your bank though....

Re: Wedding Gift Question
Maybe the couple just didn't have the time to get to the bank.. My shower was the 8th and I just went today to deposit my checks.. I would wait another week or so and then find out if everything is ok

Re: Wedding Gift Question
Its possible they are waiting to open a joint bank account and she is waiting to change her license so she can do that.
Its highly unlikely it got lost...

Re: Wedding Gift Question
they might've not had time to do it before the honeymoon, some people leave right after the wedding and if they left on sunday for example then they probably wouldnt have been able to deposit the checks...do you know when they are supposed to come back from their honeymoon or when did they? also depending on how things are after the HM they might just be busy...i doubt anything is wrong

They were only on HM for 5 days so they've been back about 2 weeks.

Re: Wedding Gift Question
We took a few weeks to do ours b.c we wanted to open a joint acct and had to find the time when we could get to the bank together. If it is bothering you, it doesn't hurt to ask. I dont think she'd be offended or anything.

That was our problem....we JUST deposited the checks from our 6-7-08 wedding on Friday b/c it was the first chance we had to make our account joint after getting back from the HM....

Re: Wedding Gift Question
An accountant friend of mine said it's best to make various deposits as not to raise a red flag to the IRS.
Anyone hear this before? She said that we should make several different deposits instead of one large one. Maybe other couples are doing that too? I've waited like 2 months before a couple has cashed my wedding check.

hmm I certainly didn't think about that....I figure if we get asked it's a pretty easy explanation!
