NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York City officials are using GPS technology in an effort to figure out which taxi might have wedding gifts, checks and cards in its trunk.
David Fitzhenry and Christine Herrick were married Saturday night. The bride slipped on ice while getting out of the taxi early Sunday. In the commotion, the gifts were momentarily forgotten.
Relatives talked the upset newlyweds out of canceling their honeymoon. They're now in Mexico.
The city has about 43,000 yellow cabs.
Taxi and Limousine Commissioner Matthew Daus says he's 'cautiously optimistic for a happy ending.'
Daus reminds passengers to always take their receipt: It provides the cab's medallion number.

You always hear stories of how cab drivers returning packages to people especially when they mean a lot -- I hope this cab driver does the same!
And I guess this is a good time to tell everyone to make sure you arrange for transportation after the wedding or arrange for family members to transport presents, cards, etc. for you! FIL's are taking all presents and cards after the wedding because we leave on our HM soon afterwards and they will keep everything safe for us while we are gone.

It is terrible...be careful ladies...always make sure someone is in charge of that kind of stuff.

Poor couple! That is so upsetting and a horrible way to end their happy day. Thankfully they didn't miss their honeymoon, that would have been even worse!

If a cabbie could return a $5 million Stradivarius violin to its rightful owner. . .then I'm sure he'll return this couple's presents. What a scary story. . .

Oh how awful! Those poor people! That *****! were all their envelopes in there as well? OMG! Sometimes poeple make the decision to the do the right thing.. hopefully this cab driver will do the right thing as well.

I'm sure they arn't even enjoying their honeymoon anyway. I would be crying lol. I hope it is returned!
