I am getting married in the beginning of oct. and I have not been gown shopping yet. I am so busy that I really haven't had much time and it is difficult to take time off at work. When is the latest I can go for shopping. I was thinking the last week of march, I would take the whole week off and do my gown shopping then. What do you think?

Re: wedding gown
it's going to depend on the designer of the dress. i know for some designers it takes about 10 months for the dress to come in! but if you're ordering something more mainstream like maggie, mori lee, etc. it will take less time. it also depends on where you're ordering your dress from. i ordered a demetrios gown, and macy's told me that it would take 6-7 months to come in. i ended up ordering my dress from www.gownfind.com, and it should be in, in about 3-4 months.

Re: wedding gown
I have a designer gown, and I ordered mine in middle of oct and it came in mid january. I believe they can always get you your dress. I wouldn't wait till the 2-3 month mark to start though.....good luck!

Re: wedding gown
I am getting married the first week in November and three bridal salons that I went to told me to order my dress by the end of February-I'd say the sooner you can get there the better!!!

And if all else fails, you can always pay a rush charge on the dress of your dreams!

Re: wedding gown
I have heard the same thing, about 6 months in advance or so.
If you are going to be taking a full week off to dress shop, make sure its a good week.
What I mean by good..is that you feel good etc.
Like don't make it when you might be bloated. Just my thoughts..

at least 6 mos in advance. I wouldn't cut yourself short on time.

Re: wedding gown
I ordered my dress exactly a year before my wedding, and it won't come in until 6 weeks before.
I would go sooner rather than later. You wouldn't want to run the risk of paying more for a rush order, or worse of not being able to get a dress you love because you went too late.

Yup, 6 months just to bea safe. Mine came in in 5 and it was only a Maggie. They usually come in faster. Get on it girl!

Re: wedding gown
I think it would be a good idea to take off and take the time to look. You don't wanna feel rushed with the timing and pick something you don't love but like a little bit.
Good Luck! I loved gown shopping!

Re: wedding gown
I bought my dress from David's Bridal and it took six weeks to come in.
I could not afford a designer dress, so this was my only option

Re: wedding gown
I would definately make a decision by the second week of March. I think that will give you plenty of time to make a decision and plenty of time for the dress to come in.
