My MOH and I are going dress shopping on Thursday? What is the average price range of dresses? I'm totally clueless.

Well, I work at a bridal salon and we have our dresses split into two rooms: over $1,000 and under $1,000... I've seen dresses that go up to $7,000 and as low as $300. From my experience, I notice that the common price range falls between $850-$2,200 for a designer dress. Maggie Sottero is VERY reasonable and has dresses that range across the whole spectrum- so does Private Label by G and Allure. HTH

I went dress shopping today and out of the 5 gowns I tried on, they ranged in price from $500-$1400, so I think it pretty much depends on what you want.

i agree that it would depend on what u want. There are dresses at a place like David's arounf $500-$650 but other designers that go well into the $1000s. See what you like first and what looks good

mine was $524 $649 origional $75 off for the sale and i had gotten a $50 coupon at a bridal show

I've tried on dresses rangine from 600 to 6000 dollars. The ones that I've tried on that were more expensive were from Kleinfeld's and were designers like reem acra, kenneth pool, rivini, and eom.

I agree, it depends on your budget and what you can afford. You can find a very nice dress for 200.00 and and extraordinary dress for the price of a toyota corolla.
Ive noticed most gowns range from 1,200-3,000 and most bridal salons will negotiate the price if you really want the dress. All depends on what you're looking for and can afford.

From what I've seen, most nice dresses cost between $750-2000. Mine is $1290 and is from Blue by Enzoani. He has a lot of really nice things and they are all around that price.

I read somewhere that the average bride spends a little over $1000 for her dress and veil. But this is NY, so it depends on where you go shopping! haha. At the store I went to, the dresses average from 2-4K, and I only looked at stuff 2K and under (and there was a nice selection).

I would say that the 'average dress' runs anywhere from $1000-$2000 in a typical bridal boutique. This is not saying that you can't find anything wonderful for less or that you might find your dream dress and it will be $6000. Just from my experiences shopping in both NY and MI, dresses were in that price range.
Oh and just a little tip, you can talk them down on the price a little in some places!

Depends on what you want but if you want to keep in a reasonable range anywhere from 600 to 1500.00 for Maggies casablancas they are usually in the 1000 ranges.

I agree with the majority of the posts. This is honestly one of the tougher buget points to pinpoint until you know what you need vs want and where the balance will fall. Good luck!

I haven't gone yet but my sister got hers. there just happened to be a trunk show for Monique Lilheur (spelling?). She got a gorgeous dress for about 5k but was originally much more. Look for trunk shows. You can get a much better deal.

a great bit of advice. Go with a budget ask them to show you whats in your budget figure out what style you like then ask them to show you dresses right above your budget if your not digging what your seing in your original set price.
Then once you find 'the dress' and its a bit more then what you are willing to spend start price shopping. My dress was priced at 1k just for the dress and then $300 for the jacket to be made in two bridal shops went to a third shop to try on gowns asked how much for the gown i really liked and oddly enough it was like $750 for the dress and $250 for the jacket. Saved big time!
