All you girls have been great since I got engaged last year....I find is a pleasure coming online and reading, plus getting a ton of informationf rom LIWEDDINGS.
So I just want to vent a little.....I went to Bridal Reflections last night, tried on 4 gowns and didn't like any of them.....how does one pick the 'RIGHT' gown.
I would really appreciate if some of you guys can help me with some suggestions on (1) where to go and (2) gown designers.
I'm looking for a very elegant gown with alot of beads on the front and back. In addition, I would prefer a catherdal train

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
its a very hard decision to make, but once you put the dress on that you are going to wear the day of your wedding you are going to know, your going to love it and not want to take it off....i just got my dress a couple of weeks ago and when i walked into the place after trying on 4 dresses i didnt think that i would find anything and i was getting discouraged and wanted to leave and then the woman sugguested that i try on a different designer that i was looking into (symphony) and when i seen the dress, i didnt think that i would love it when i tried it on i fell in love and my parents and sister said 'thats the one'
dont worry you will find one!!

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
I went to about 10 different places on LI and tried on literally hundreds of dresses....best advice...try on anything...even if you think it's not your 'style' or won't look good on your body type...you will be surprised! Look thru magazines to see if one particular cut or style keeps catching your eye...and just have fun...don't stress yourself out about it...for awhile i was getting discouraged but then...BAM! my dress was there...good luck!

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
i agree with trying lillettes - i went there with a list of like 7 gowns. They pulled them all for me and then pulled about another 7 or 8 that she thought would be my style or would look good on me. They were sooo nice and helpful there. dont get discouraged - some girls try on one dress and some try on 50 before finding 'the one'

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
I went to Bridal suite in Centereach. Amy was great. She actually picked out my dress. I told her what I liked style wise and she grabbed at least 15 dresses. My dress was the second one I tried on. She took her time and gave me her honest opinion. She was great.

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
Why only 4 dresses??? I would try Kenneth Pool or Reem Acra. Both of those designers use a lot of intricate beading on the front and back! Try going to The Wedding Salon of Manhasset or Kleinfelds. Good luck!!!!

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
There is no 'picking' the right one....You know what you basically like and then you put one on and BAM you know it is the one. It will just happen and you will be in love with it. Good Luck

I agree with trying Lillette's. They are so helpful! I had a few pictures of dresses that I might like and by the time I knew it she had like 10 similar dresses pulled out for me! Once you find the right one, you'll know. It's not easy to describe, but it is just a feeling you get. I could not stop smiling! It can be frustrating and tiresome, but just keep on going! Good luck and have fun!!

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
Have you tried Kleinfeld? I went there and probably only tried on 6 or 7 dresses before finding 'THE ONE.' The woman was SO helpful... I gave her a broad idea of what I liked, and she brought in a TON of dresses into the dressing room. After I tried one on, she got an idea of what I liked about it and what I didn't.... and then took dresses out of the room, and brought new ones in.... She quickly got a really accurate picture of what I liked and didn't like... which made it so much easier.

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
I also went to bridal reflections. The one in carle place. I was looking for the same thing as you and two of the designers that have the type of work you're looking for that they carry are Eve of Milday and Amalia Carra (they are sister lines)
The women at Bridal Reflections also told me that any of their designers will extend the length of the train. You just have to specify how long you want it when you order.
I forget what size train mine is. I don't think it's catherdral, but I know it's not chapel or sweep. I was going to pay to have them extend it but there is sooooooo much detail on it that everyone agreed that if it was any longer it would just look over done.
Definitely look into those two designers if that is the look you are going for. Let me warn you though they are pricey!!!

I tried on like 30 gowns before finding 'the one.' And it was # 30! When you find the right one you will know.

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
Try Brides by Demetrios. I live far away and I got mine at a store here, but I know they have some locations in NY. The service was awesome and the dresses are beautiful, similar designs to Eve of Milady and the prices aren't bad!

Re: Wedding Gown Stress
haha i tried on like 30 before i found the one!! and i was also getting frustrated. i ended up findng the one at an alvina valenta trunk show at bridal reflections. my advice to you is to find pics that you like and find designers that you love their style, then go to stores that you know carry that designer. good luck, and def dont get discouraged after 4 dresses. it may take time but when you find it you will know you made the right decision and its a great feeling!
