Wedding gown weight question:

Wedding gown weight question:

Hi ladies.

In my now obsessive quest for a dress, I have tried on many, and I am astounded at how HEAVY they are? I am 5 feet tall, and feel like I am so weighed down by them. i love Paula Varsalona dresses, but feel like I am wearing a lead vest. Summer in vineyard does not work well with heavy silk dress. Also, I want to dance like a crazy lady all night!

I have not tried on Maggie Sottero's yet-can anyone tell me if they run lighter than others?

Do you have any suggestions for light dresses?
Thank You!

Re: Wedding gown weight question:

I tried on some Maggies, and they were light compared to the gown I decided on. I also think it depends on how big a crinoline you need- my gown is heavy by itself, AND it needs a rather large poofy thing. I thought about changing into another dress, but I want to wear my gown all night and feel 'bridal'. And my cheap a$$ doesn't want to pay for another dress.

I'm tiny too and the wedding dresses i tried on seemed way too heavy. I wanted a dress that looked like a wedding dress but was not too heavy. I chose a Maggie Sottero that didn't need extra crinoline and has a sweep train, so I can vouch that her dresses could be something worth trying on. Good Luck!

Re: Wedding gown weight question:

I just found a Maggie that would be perfect for a vineyard wedding. Like you I am small and will be getting married in July. I tried on so many dresses and every one weighed a ton! I hated feeling tied down to a dress. Then I tried on Maggie's Paulette- it has a chiffon bottom so its not so ornate but it is sooo comfortable. My friend actually wore the same gown for her wedding and it looked incredible with a cathedral length veil. Ever other gown I looked like I was trying on my mom's clothes. The corset back is awesome too since it means less alterations. Here's a pic-

I'm so excited that you liked it! Its a great dress- SOOOO comfortable. They have it Rk bridal in Mahattan. I knew it was 'the one'shopping with my mom and sister. It is so flattering. FYI- Netbride has the lowest price that I could find on this dress. FM for details.
