How much do you have to put down for a deposit when you purchase your gown?

As a deposit, my salon let me put down any amount, but to order it I had to have at least half down.

It's usually 40-50%...I wouldn't put any more than that down on a dress because from what I understand, the dress price is usually twice the wholesale cost. If you put more than 50% down, the shop has already made a profit on you, and it makes it harder to fight them if there's a problem.

I know people say to never do this, but the bridal salon said if I put the whole thing down I would get an even bigger discount than the one they were already giving me...the discount was A LOT so I ended up paying for the whole thing. I didn't have a single problem with the dress, it actually came in early and I have had all my fittings!
