Re: wedding in Cali
I would buy a gift from the registry - that's how CA rolls - my sister lives there and they always just get a registry gift....you can even go to the store when you are there!

Re: wedding in Cali
In my opinion - if you are traveling there and vice versa - it should be enough for both of you....maybe you should discuss both of you saving the money on a gift and call it even! I think one of the brides started a thread about this and her and FH discussed with the other couple that the money would be an even exchange - so the presence of each other was gift enough....HTH

Where in Cali?
We have FBIL's wedding there in Nov. He is getting married in Fullerton
I was thinking about doing a gift off their registry too for their wedding. We will see.

I am from California and yes, you give gifts off the registry - nice china, nice server set, etc. They have a gift table and all.
I am hoping my guests catch on to the NY tradition of giving envelopes of $$.

Good luck! My BIL's family is from Seatlle and Cali - he was born and raised....she had a very big and beautiful wedding NY Style - they were in shock! This was almost 8 years ago - they are still talking about it....but most of his side of the family brought registry gifts.....
