Wedding Insurance?

Wedding Insurance?

I think it also covers if you have to cancel due to illness or death (not certain though). Not pleasant things to think about while planning your wedding but these things can happen.

If it really is only $250, then consider this.....

...if your wedding total costs are ~$20K, that's just over 1% of your total expenditures. Not a lot of money is the scheme of what you're spending. And if it provides you with peace of mind, get it.

Anna, having the ring insured means having it listed as a schedule (separate from regular coverage & is specific for your ring) on either your homeowners policy or your renters policy. You need an appraisal to have it scheduled and it is nominal amount. The wedding insurance is different - just for the event and does not cover your ring.

I'm sure it will be fun to tell our kids about every part of their backgrounds....

But insurance - any kind - is only peace of mind until you need it. Auto, health, renters...etc. All depends upon your tolerance for risk.

We also get a discount b/c our auto, renters & ring are all with the same company. And our area isn't that secure - we live in a so-so section of Queens.

You will need an appraisal - which can cost up to $75 - but if you ask when you're buying, you can get it thrown in.

True - good to benchmark. I was very comfortable with our jewler b/c my family has used him for years...so I OK with his appraisal.

If you do not have an established relationship with your jewler, you may want to go to someone else to bench mark.

Any suggestions or any comments about these two. This is turning out to be a very difficult and time consuming task. But at the same time I want to take my time and be sure!! Please help!!!
