It's not the most romantic part of planning a wedding, but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with wedding insurance. I have two elderly grandmothers (both of whom just happen to be in the hospital now), and my mom recently brought up the point to me that it might be a good idea to take out a policy, since you really never know... I know, it's kind of morbid to think that you should anticipate possible deaths in the family which would postpone your wedding, but I guess it can't hurt to be covered. Anyone familiar with the topic?

Re: Wedding Insurance
When we first started planning, we planned on getting it.. but now we just haven't. For us, it would be in the event of some kind os natural disaster or something-- I believe it is a common thing- not sure how many people actually purchase it.
I bet you can find some articles on the Knot or Wedding Channel on it.

Re: Wedding Insurance
we purchased it thru Wed Safe. It was pretty reasonable and we thought it would be a small amount to lose in the event anything happened. you can check out their website for more info.

Never heard of it... how much and what does it cover? How does it work?

Re: Wedding Insurance
I never considered it until tonight. FI has a back injury which caused him to cancel on a dinner party tonight. I never considered that a medical issue might cause the wedding to be postponed. Does wedding insurance cover such things?

Well, that's out. Just checked the wedsafe web site.
If the Bride, Groom, or a family member is in an accident or falls ill before the wedding, will a WedSafe Wedding Insurance Policy provide coverage?
Yes, a WedSafe Wedding Insurance Policy will provide coverage if the wedding and/or reception is postponed due to an accident or illness that prevents the Bride, the Groom, or their immediate families from attending, provided any illness is not related to a pre-existing medical condition.
