Wedding Insurance

Did/Has anyone purchased Wedding Insurance? I was looking over this website that my sis emailed me about wedding Ins. It's a one lump sum. They had like 4 different policys to pick from. Has anyone did this? Was curious to find out about wedding Ins.

Re: Wedding Insurance

We had it, but didn't need it. At the time I was planning my wedding, idiot frat boys were climbing the George Washington Bridge and causing it to be closed for an entire day. So, I was afraid that everyone would miss my reception.

The only thing that went wrong on my wedding day was that the park wouldn't let us in to take pictures. We had a permit, but we didnt' have to pay to get the permit. We went to another, not as nice, park. So, there wasnt' anything covered by the insurance. How do you equate what a 'better park' with 'better pictures' would be worth?

FH and I looked into it. I think we looked at Wedsafe....but after careful thought, we decided against it. It seems as if a lot of winter brides get insurance because of the higher probability of cancellations due to snow and weather related problems. But it is still a great idea. We just decided to have faith and believe that all of our vendors will do the job that we are paying them for.

I considered it for about 3 seconds. Having my wedding at the end of December can be a gamble with lots of family flying in from all over the US, but I see those things as a scam. Its always the WHAT IF....I look at it like everything is WHAT IF....if god decides to pour 4 feet of snow on the ground and delay flights...there is a reason why...and I will just go with the flow...after a few tears

I've been throwing the idea around, but after calling my ins.broker who said they don't offer it, I haven't persued it any further. Any ideas on what it would cost?

We thought about it for about a minute. We felt it would be a waste of money for us. I have complete faith that everything will be fine.

Re: Wedding Insurance

We've been thinking about it. Even though we have a summer wedding -- so no snow-related flight cancellations -- I am a little concerned after the blackout from August '03. My ex-boyfriend, who is an insurance analyst, said that if we decide to do it, just make sure to read the policy very carefully because they can be VERY specific and might not cover all the things I'd want them to.

Re: Wedding Insurance

The wedding Ins. I was reading about was WedSafe too. There are 4 policies.
Silver policy costing $155.00, Gold policy $225.00, Platinum policy $305.00 and Diamond policy $385.00 (it requires you purchase additional coverage) Each policy is broken down in the different coverage for each of the following categories. Cancellation/Postponement, wedding photographs, wedding attire, wedding presents, wedding rings, loss of deposits and professional counseling. Is it worth getting?
