Thanks!

no...all of your vendors should be insured and your hall checks them beucase they dont want to be liable for anything. your contract states what you should and shouldnt get...so we didnt even think about insurance

I understand vendors have insurance but what if your wedding was during a balckout or a hurricane?

I found this:

Wedding Insurance
Love may be priceless, but unfortunately getting married can be very expensive. If you have recently become engaged or currently planning the wedding of your dreams, you should see if wedding insurance is right for you.

Wedding insurance is a form of special event insurance designed to provide financial protection if you have to cancel or postpone a wedding because of death or serious injury in the immediate family, the bride or groom is called to military duty, a natural disaster such as a hurricane or earthquake occurs on your special day or other insured disaster. One thing that is generally not covered, however, is change of heart.

Depending on the policy or level of protection you select, there may be the following coverages:

Reimbursement of non-refundable deposits due to circumstances outside your control such as a death in the immediate family

Damage to the wedding dress or other special wedding attire

Theft of wedding gifts

Expenses incurred to reassemble the wedding party to retake photographs because of damaged or destroyed film or videotape

Professional counseling if the cancellation or postponement of the wedding causes severe emotional stress (A doctor’s note will be needed)

Re: Wedding Insurance

I will be purchasing wedding insurance, simply because my wedding is in February and I worry about weather.

The site that my caterer recommended was:

www.wedsafe.com

Thanks I just found the same site. Glad to know its recommended. I am a sucker for insurance (ie e-ring) and warranties like for my i-pod.

The pricing seems very reasonable.

I hear ya! I will definitely be purchasing insurance once I have all my vendors booked. I think a little money is worth piece of mind

I got it because right after we got engaged, the GW Bridge was shut down for an entire day because some drunk frat boys tried to climb it.

So, I was in a total panic. Our ceremony was in NJ, reception in LI. What would happen if no one could get to NY?

But, it was a waste. We didn't need it.

wish I had the $500 back
