Re: Wedding Insurance
we did, thankfully we didn't need it, but here's some reasons why we decided to get it...
-our venue wasn't a typical wedding hall, and it's located right on the bay and has been flooded on many occassions..wanted to cover weather since everything was outdoors...or even the place going out of business.
- bad weather causing guests not to be able to make it...at least half were OOTers
-god forbid there was another terrorist attack and people couldn't get here
-incase any vendors flaked...(i really had no concerns here)
last & not least, i just have really bad luck...haha...even DH laughed & was like, you know something is going to go wrong, with that black cloud of yours...thankfully everything went well...for a few hundred bucks it covers the thousands you are spending.

Re: Wedding Insurance
DH and I got insurance from WedSafe. We got liability and event coverage for most but not all of the cost of our wedding. The cost of the policies were $540--we had a wedding that was probably average in terms of LI costs and were willing to eat the cost of the rest if we had to make a claim. Fortunately, we didn't.
WedSafe provides five types of coverage at varying levels. As stated above, we got two.
DH and I realized that the chance of something adverse happening was pretty slim, but we wanted to be absolutely sure we could recoup in case we had to make a claim. But I agree that the chances of something happening on this single day are pretty slim and coverage is absolutely optional--it's not like health insurance.
If you do decide to get coverage, read the policies carefully, because some events are excluded. Also, check your homeowners or renters insurance to see if they cover liability. You may have sufficient coverage there. We wanted additional liablity coverage, so we got it.
