I work in a rather small law office and I would probably only want to invite three of the 10 people that work here to me wedding. I'd like opinions, do you girls think its rude? Is it really an all or nothing kind of thing? Its not that I don't like the others, I could take them or leave them. I need to keep my wedding on the small side and I would rather invite people that mean something to me and not because I have to.

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
I honestly think that your wedding is the one time that you get to be selfish and do what you and your FH want. I work in a fairly large law firm (there are 30 or so lawyers) and I would actually like to invite everyone but I can not afford to do that. I am going to invite the people I work closest with and I am sure I am going to piss some people off but I oh well!

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
That's exactly what I was thinking. They probably wouldn't come anyway but why should I kill an extra tree for people I am indifferent towards. Thanks for your opinion... I tend to second guess my own decisions for the most part

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
People also understand that you can't invite the world to your wedding. I'm only inviting those people who I can a friendly relationship with at work and then the bosses. Don't sweat it if you only invite three of them.. they will understand!

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
I don't think it's rude at all. I would just tell those three people that you're not inviting the entire office and to keep it to themselves because you don't want anyone to feel bad. I also would try to not talk wedding details with anyone who will not be invited to the wedding.

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
I work with 400+ people who probably all think they're entitled to an invite, but its just not logical. You have to do what's best for you. Its your wedding!

I'm having the same issue now. I'm trying to decide on what I'm going to do as well. I work closely with a lot of people, but I dont know if I can afford to have them all come. It's a tough decision.

I wish I can invite everyone. I have been here for 8 years and love everyone I work with. I just can not afford it.

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
I started out thinking that I would only invite the teachers that I actually socialize with outside of work. However, I talk to my neighbors on mt floor A LOT...and I feel like I would have to invite all 4 of them. It doesn't seem like a lot but we are having a smallish wedding and another 4 plus husbands and dates adds up. Not sure what I am going to do yet. I am not sending them STD's and I'm waiting until next school year to think about it again.

Re: Wedding Invitation Etiquette
I agree w/ what everyone else said it is not rude for you to invite the 3 you are closest to. If you were planning to invite say, 6 or 7 of the 10 though I would say def invite everyone or it will appear rude
