Wedding Invitation wording

My fiancé and I are customizing our own invitations online since we went to a few stores and almost fell out of the chair once we got the quote for 100. I found the same ones online at 40% off but I need to customize them myself.

The only issue I have is with the actual invitation wording. FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves so we wanted to specify that but also include our parents as without them, we wouldn't be here... Is there a way of doing that????

I've looked it up everywhere and I'm driving myself crazy PLEASE HELP!!! Did anyone run into this issue.

We didn't include our parents on the invitation (we are also fully paying for our wedding). I did ask my mom and she was not offended.
We put both church and reception on the same card. I felt it would be too wordy adding our parents names.
We do have a church program and we did add a few words directed to our parents under the Thank You.

Our parents are helping us, but you could do something similar to what we did and leave the parents part out:

Bride name
and
Groom's name

invite you to celebrate their love and friendship as they join hands in marriage on Friday, the twenty-fifth of October two thousand and thirteen at (insert time of ceremony)

Church Address

* You can then do a reception card if it is elsewhere. Otherwise, you insert the venue's address and write: 'cocktails and reception following the ceremony' at the bottom.*

There are lots of ways to do this, and a lot depends on how much space you have on the invite. Good Luck - this was one of the items that took me awhile to sort through because of wording and spacing. It's good that you are starting this process early!

request the honor of your presence blah blah blah


So this way they are acknowledged but they aren't the ones requesting.

On my invitation we wrote

We are paying for the wedding ourselves
