american wedding album had all the stuff i was seeing at the store for less than half the price
they have a website or you can order a catalog - plus they will send samples of whatever you want to look at so you can feel them before you order

Definitely in the store...you get to see and touch the invite...I had found one I was in love with online and when I saw it in a book in a store...it looked and felt cheap

I've gotten better deals from visiting an actual vendor. I posted an 'invitation quote' thread on the vendors helping brides area, and got some great responses.

I found my invites on line then asked the board vendors what their prices were. My invites on line were discounted 30% and the accessories were 20 or 25%. I ordered from Favorite Things Invitations (board vendor), she gave me a 25% discount on everything. I spent almost 2 hours with her discussing font, wording and colors. You don't get that online that's why I ordered from a live person I could talk to. Also, if there is a problem, it might be hard to track down the online vendor.

So, do you get better prices? Maybe, but you the service more then makes up for it.
