wedding invite via email?!

wedding invite via email?!

Just thought I would share because I found it kind of amusing ..

So FH is from Canada right? Well, we were chatting on Skype last night when he goes 'Oh you have to see this!' and forwards me an email he had just received.

It was an invitation to his cousin's wedding ... in Newfoundland! It was for the ceremony, with 'appetizers and dance to follow' .. and the RSVP was just a page you had to print out and stick in an envelope and stamp yourself!

Even FH was like 'Who sends out a wedding invite by email?!' LOL Turns out, he didn't even know his cousin was engaged .. and he's not that close with them, so we aren't going to make the trip out there for it ... but imagine how much time and money is saved by doing it that way?!?!

Again, weddings are SO different outside of NY!!

LOL!!! FH already suggested an evite cause he doesn't understand why we should spend several hundreds of dollars on invitations!!!!

Definitely not telling him about this one!!!!

This is common when you have transcontinental families. We have tons of family in Italy and we have gotten many invites via e-mail. My sister got married in Italy and all her invites and Thank You's to the family in Italy were via e-mail. Postal service outside of the US is very unreliable e-mail is the best way to go.

An email makes the event feel so unofficial.

Imagine that! Thats very different.

I think it's pretty messed up that the bride and groom wouldn't spend the money for postage but expect their guests to!

So true.

FH's friend is getting married in 2 weeks and he forgot to give our address to his bride ... so we assumed we weren't invited since we never got an invite. Then 3 weeks ago he invited us on Face book! His future wife was so pissed at him!
He actually made a face book event for his wedding!
hahahahahahaha

she is never going to get an rsvp! It's hard enough when you provide the paper, envelope and postage!

Re: wedding invite via email?!

The wedding I just went to on Sunday had facebook invites! The event info was typed like a formal invite but all the younger crowd received facebook invites

I wish it was sociallly acceptable to do this...I hate mailing stuff. But yea, I realize its not so I won't. For my E-party invites a friend even siad I shouldn't have done labels and I should have run them through the printer. I'm like no, its backyard party, not a ballroom gala.

I get the email thing for such a distance, a little strange, but to each his own.

The funniest part I think, that the invite was electronic but the RSVP isn't. Why couldn't you have just scanned it back and emailed it!! !Beat them at their own game

That is odd. Yes things are different outside of New York.....FH didn't believe me when I told him this, but he is realizing it.....especially since at our Minnesota wedding we are paying $8/plate......YES you read that correctly, I didn't forget a 0.....it is ONLY EIGHT dollars a plate!!! Compared to the 100+ we are paying out here.....and I promise you the food will be just as good.....
