My mom and sister want the guest list to send out shower invites. I thought they should wait until after the wedding invites go out... but we did do STDs so I guess it shouldn' t be a big deal?

I don't think it really matters. Especially since some people have showers 2 or 3 months prior to their wedding. I believe that we sent out shower invites before the invitations went out for my SIL's wedding. I know, it makes more sense for the wedding invite to go out first, then the shower invitation, so people are aware that you are getting married, but...I'm sure everyone that is invited to the shower knows that you are getting married.

How close to your wedding is your shower? The shower invites should go out 4-6 weeks before your shower. Wedding invites are 6-8 weeks before your wedding.

My shower was 3 months before my wedding, so obviously the invites went out first. It really doesn't matter, IMO.
