Taking a poll to see how many ladies are having real wedding jewelry, or a 'designer imposter' FH thinks I am nuts as I want to wear a small pendant, and was looking for a real diamond to keep as a really special piece of jewelry. He thinks I am nuts and can get a CZ for much less and no one will know the difference. Opinions? And if you have pics of wedding day necklace/earrings, please post

Re: wedding jewelery
I am wearing Johns moms pearls that his dad gave to his mom on their wedding day & imposter pearl earrings.
The only real pearls I own are black pearls.

Re: wedding jewelery
I'd received jewelery as my wedding gift from my extended family and had to wear it on the big day. They were all real--the pearls, the diamond, a small emerald, gold bracelets on my wrists, etc. Guests and BP can't stop staring at me all day and night at my bridal gown, hair, make-up and jewelery.
Prehaps, you might receive some real jewelery from someone as a wedding gift?

Re: wedding jewelery
I know what you mean - I saw a beautiful Fenaroli set that would set us back $200! IF I have the $ closer to the date & I don't find anything I like better I may still get it cuz I'd also like some nice jewlery to pass down. Other than that the only real jewlery I'll have on will be the rings & a diamond bracelet FH gave me a few Christmases ago.

Re: wedding jewelery
I wish wacky but we are looking for a house, so agreed to not exchange wedding presents, as we are paying for a lot of the wedding ourselves. He wants me to 'be practical' I know that no one will know the difference, but I thought it would be so nice to have a tradition started *picturing Hallmark moment showing my wedding necklace to children* My mom is not a big jewelry person, and FMIL has...well, let say a style all her own. I will not be borrowing from her Its so funny that it has been so long since I have bought any jewelry for myself, FH has bought it for me, so I feel guilty buying it for myself. I am thinking of putting some of my own money away and splurging

Re: wedding jewelery
My gown is has alot of detailing in sterling silver thread & rinestones on the bodice, so the only jewelry I'll be wearing (other than my rings!) are a pair of pearl earings with a diamond chip that my mom wore for her wedding.

Re: wedding jewelry
swarowksi makes some less expensive than 'real' jewlery that might be nice....just a thought!

Re: wedding jewelry
My mother had scored me a diamond necklace estate piece on ebay two months before the wedding. Over 2 carats in dia. and she 'won' it for me for $500 and gave it to me as a gift and I wore it with my dress! If you have the time,on ebay you can find yourself absolute 'steals' on real diamonds/gems, etc!

Re: wedding jewelry
Since my diamond earrings are the Real deal at $600 , I had to settle for imposter (CZ's) on my necklace - $100 instead of $500
I have a slight 'birth defect' on my right ear...so I had to find earrings to cover it up...my last resort..Target!! $10...and actually a few people asked me if DH bought my diamond earrings for me as a wedding present
for necklace at the last minute I 'borrowed' my mom's e-ring and put it on a chain...

Re: wedding jewelry
My FItobe bought me pearls and I want to wear those - there is something timesless about brides and pearls IMO. Hope to dazzle it up with a little bit of shiney stuff though!!

Re: wedding jewelry
I just went out today and my FH bought me a beautiful white gold pearl drop necklace as a wedding present. He knew I was looking for jewlery for a while and when I saw it in Bloomies I knew it was the one.

Re: wedding jewelry
I just got a necklace for my wedding. It's beautiful, I got it at Estelle's Dressy Dresses. It's fake but it looks likeit cost alot of $$$$. They have alot of nice things in there I was suprised. Some of the stuff is really expensive, but my necklace cost $15 and I love it
