Thanks for this info- I just did a search and its 24 hours from the exact time you signed the license. So we just need to go in the morning(we are getting married at 3 pm the next day) and we will be ok.

SORRY! Editing to say you already got an answer! But the big thing seem to be it is only payable by money order! Something I would have not thought of.
Christine, this is what I read, so most likely need more than the day before to get the license:
Fees vary from city to city, but once you have the license it is valid anywhere in New York State for 60 days. In New York City, the fee is currently $30.00, payable by US money order only. Once the license is issued you cannot get married for at least 24 hours from the time of issue.
Both the bride and groom need to appear together with valid identification. In Staten Island you must call the bureau and make an appointment. In the other boroughs there are general walk-in hours 9am and 4pm (with a break for lunch between 11:30am and 1:00pm). It is highly advisable that you call ahead anyway.
